It’s finally here – the 50th class reunion for one of the most remarkable classes that ever set foot in the hallowed halls of Beaverton High School. Thanks to all of the classmates who have attended previous reunions – you are the glue that has held this group together. And thanks, too, to all the rest of you (editor included) who have now decided that a trip to a reunion would be a fun thing to do. It should be a wonderful celebration.
If you are interested in a round of golf on Saturday morning of Reunion Weekend, contact Jeff Carey. He needs to hear from you like yesterday so he can put the details together. Jeff can be reached at [email protected] or 503-880-1248.
We need your help…. As we approach reunion time on August 27/28 we want to make sure that every classmate who wants to attend is able to do so. We know that this is a very difficult time financially for a lot of folks. But do you know what we’ve learned through this reunion planning process? Even in financially hard times, our classmates still are giving of their time and talents in so many ways to their communities. Now here is the part where we need your help. We have had some classmates contact us confidentially and have told us that they want to make sure everyone one who wants to come is able to do so. They are ready to pay the reunion registration expense to ensure classmates’ attendance.
This is a time for those who need this gift to be able to receive it and a time to give those classmates who can make it happen a chance to share a gift. Think of it as a random act of kindness that can be paid forward someday to someone else in whatever way is meaningful. See, I told you we had a remarkable class!
So, here is where we want you to be involved. If you would like to contribute to your classmates being able to attend the reunion, please contact Lynda Rohrback at [email protected] or 503-391-6267. It will be strictly confidential.
If you know of classmates who would love to come to the reunion but financial constraints preclude them from doing so, please contact Lynda with details. The way it works is that Lynda contacts the classmate and offers the gift. If accepted, she sends the reunion funds to the recipient and then he or she sends in the RSVP information. Only Lynda and the recipient know that this has been done. Is it hard to receive such a gift? Sure is but, as a wise friend, said many years ago, “It is your turn to receive. You can still ‘give’ by graciously receiving” and then you can pay it forward by doing something kind for someone else.
Please let us know immediately if we can help a classmate get to the reunion – we will make it happen. We want everyone there….
Memory Book Second Order Forms We’re hearing rumblings that some folks wish they had ordered a copy of the Memory Book. We will have order forms at the Reunion and you can pick one up, take it home and follow the instructions for ordering. If you are not able to attend the Reunion and want to order a book, contact Lynda Rohrback at [email protected] or 503-391-6267 and she will make sure you get an order form. Second printing will be done about September 15th and then mailed out immediately. Cost is $35 per book, including shipping. The cost of the Memory Book is not part of the registration fee for the reunion.
THREE CHEERS TO INK SPOT PRINTING IN SALEM, OREGON for their phenomenal job printing our Memory Book. If you need printing done for anything, contact Ink Spot Printing 641 High St NE, Salem Phone 503-363-6976 or [email protected]. This is a wonderful local company and their service and quality of work is superb.
The Orange Reunion Shirts!!! Have you seen these shirts? You can’t miss them! John Thompson was able to find, we think, the brightest orange shirt on the planet – very cool John. Shirts can be ordered through John – they are not part of the registration fees that you paid to Colleen Moore Humphrey through your Reunion RSVP. Contact John at [email protected] .
Visiting the Hallowed Halls of BHS We called Beaverton High School to find out if it would be possible for folks to wander through the halls of BHS on Friday, August 27th and Debbie in the office said of course we can. So, no formal tours, just stop by the school between 1 and 3 p.m. on the 27th and get a Visitor Badge. Then you can try to go find your old locker or a favorite classroom or where you spotted that student that made your heart flutter – oh the possibilities….then home or to the hotel for a quick nap before the evening festivities at the Crowne Plaza.
What You Need To Know To Make Your Plans Check with the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Lake Oswego, Oregon on Kruse Oaks Blvd. for reservation information (503-624-8400). The discount code for a special room rate ($92 per night) is BHS Class of ’60.
Check Out The Class Website – www.BHS60alumni.weebly.comKudos to John Thompson for going above and beyond – way above and beyond the call of duty to track down classmates and update information. Phenomenal job!

So here we are at the end of our last Reunion Newsletter – let’s see, what do classmates need to do to get ready for the big event?...Where is that wrinkle cream jar…Can I lose 25 pounds in just a few weeks…Do I have that magic potion around to make my hair color go back to HS days…Should I take some extra naps before the Reunion so I can stay up past 9….And what am I going to say to these people I haven’t seen in 50 years -Here are some ideas –Do I know you? Did we date? Do you remember what year? Oh, what the heck – I’ll just show up, admit I have no idea who half these people are, but revel in reconnecting and enjoying the memories.
Come and celebrate – reconnect – remember that old friends are to be treasured. Stay in touch with one another. Beaverton High School Class of 1960 – aren’t we lucky to have been part of it. See you at the Reunion!
